¡Salud!, a non-profit program through Tuality Healthcare that provides healthcare services for seasonal vineyard workers and their families, raised $40,000 at its second annual Summertime ¡Salud! – The Big Dinner, hosted by Stoller Family Estate and presented by The Allison Inn & Spa. The July 24 event, held the evening before the annual International Pinot Noir Celebration, drew a crowd of 135 guests and featured cuisine by JORY chef, Sunny Jin and magnums from the 18 participating wineries from Oregon, California and France.
According to Corby Stonebraker-Soles, ¡Salud! Steering Committee Co-Chair, “We are thrilled to see so much community and industry support for this important program. The funds raised during Summertime ¡Salud! will go directly to providing medical care for vineyard workers and their families, such as blood pressure screenings, vaccinations, and dental services.”
The 18 participating wineries included the following: Anam Cara Cellars, Argyle, Brick House Vineyards, Coeur de Terre Vineyard, Matello, Matzinger Davies Wine Company, Ponzi Vineyards, Raptor Ridge Winery, ROCO Winery, Stoller Family Estate, Trisaetum, and Winderlea Vineyard & Winery from Oregon; J Vineyards and Winery, La Follette, Red Car, and Siduri from California; and Bachelder and Maison Ambroise from France.

¡Salud! is a unique collaboration between Oregon winemakers and healthcare professionals to provide access to healthcare services for Oregon’s seasonal vineyard workers and their families. The program was created in 1991 by a group of Oregon winery owners and Tuality Healthcare physicians in order to address the hurdles faced by seasonal workers who cannot meet their basic health needs with only a few months’ income to stretch over a full year. The vast majority of field workers move from one crop to another, and their temporary status with each employer makes them ineligible for health coverage. Without insurance, these men, women, and their families often do not seek professional healthcare until their problems become acute. Their knowledge of basic health education is limited and they are overwhelmed by the maze of complex and confusing resources available in the medical system. The mission of ¡Salud! is to bridge this gap. Visit http://www.saludauction.org/ for more information.
