¡Salud!, a project through Tuality Healthcare Foundation that provides health care services for seasonal vineyard workers and their families, raised a record-breaking $800,000 at its 24th annual Oregon Pinot Noir auction, an 11% increase from 2014. The Friday night ¡Salud! Cuvée Tasting and Big Board Auction, held for the first time at Ponzi Vineyards in Sherwood, drew a crowd of over 500 attendees and raised $203,000 — a new record for that event. The Saturday Dinner and Auction Gala, held at The Allison Inn & Spa in Newberg, entertained 300 guests and raised $597,550 through live and silent auctions, ticket sales, and sponsorships. The two highest grossing items were a Waitsburg, Washington trip with Wine Enthusiast Contributing Editor Paul Gregutt, which sold twice for a total of $19,000; and a Champagne dinner for 12 which also sold twice for a total of $15,000. During the event, ¡Salud! presented the Legacy Winemaker award to Joe and Pat Campbell of Elk Cove Vineyards.

James Frey, ¡Salud! Steering Committee Co-Chair and owner of Trisaetum, states, “We are so grateful to the event patrons and our Vintners Circle wineries. The funds raised go directly to the ¡Salud! Services program which provides necessary care for our vineyard workers, such as cholesterol screenings, blood pressure checks, vaccinations, disease management, and patient navigation through the complex health care system. We are proud to be able to support the people who are the backbone of the Oregon wine industry.”

About ¡Salud!

¡Salud! is a unique collaboration between Oregon winemakers and health care professionals to provide access to health care services for Oregon’s seasonal vineyard workers and their families. The program was created in 1991 by a group of Oregon winery owners and Tuality Healthcare physicians in order to address the hurdles faced by seasonal workers who cannot meet their basic health needs with only a few months’ income to stretch over a full year. The vast majority of field workers move from one crop to another, and their temporary status with each employer makes them ineligible for health coverage. Without insurance, these men, women, and their families often do not seek professional health care until their problems become acute. Their knowledge of basic health education is limited and they are overwhelmed by the maze of complex and confusing resources available in the medical system. The mission of ¡Salud! is to bridge this gap. Visit for more information.
